Several years after Simonds Farsons Cisk (Farsons) launched their first beer in Malta, Farsons developed Kinnie, a unique, bittersweet soft drink that was launched in Malta in 1952 as an alternative to the innumerable colas that had proliferated in Europe since the Second World War. Almost overnight, Kinnie became Malta’s own favourite soft drink.
In 1975, a renowned Paris institution – Comité International d’Action Gastronomique et Touristique – selected Kinnie as the beverage of the year, awarding it the prestigious trophy ‘L’Epi d’Or de la Qualité Internationale’ in recognition of its originality and quality.
